In browsing Hometalk, I came across a post showing how to make a beautiful, rustic pine cone tree. Here is that blogger’s original post. Instead of creating the tree using the blogger’s method, I chose to use a different method to get the same results.
Here’s what you will need:
- Grapevine Topiary Cone
- Large, medium, and small pine cones
- Glue gun
- Glue sticks (many glue sticks!!)
I purchased a grapevine topiary cone at Hobby Lobby (it can be purchased in store or online here). For the pine cones, you can purchase them at Hobby Lobby or another craft store or if you have access to pine trees you can collect those that have fallen on the ground. I collected a large number of pine cones while camping this summer and was just waiting for a project to use them on! Luckily I found the perfect project and just in time for the holidays, yay me! 😉
Using my hot glue gun, I started gluing the largest pine cones around the base of the grapevine cone.
I then continued gluing pine cones up and around the cone, using smaller pine cones the higher I got.
Once the grapevine cone has been covered, place a final pine cone at the top of the grapevine cone as the top to the tree.
Finally, place your tree in your preferred location and admire it!
